Getting to Serre Chevalier
Closer than you think – by road, rail, or air
Located in the southeastern region of France, Serre Chevalier is part of the Hautes-Alpes department in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region.
The resort area spans several villages, including Briançon, Chantemerle, Villeneuve, and Le Monêtier-les-Bains, each offering a unique charm and array of amenities.
Getting here
By plane: The quickest and easiest way to get here is to fly into one of the nearby airports and jump on an airport transfer. Here are our recommendations:
Turin: The most simple and preferred route is Turin. Approximately 120km away, offering a 1.5 to 2-hour drive to Serre Chevalier.
Grenoble: Also a simple transfer away, around 150km, with a transfer time of approximately 2 to 2.5 hours.
Lyon: A bit further away but offering more routes. Lyon is about 200km away, with a transfer time of around 3 hours.
Geneva: Approximately 220km away, with a 3 to 3.5-hour transfer time.
By train: Serre Chevalier is easily accessible by car or train. By train, Briançon Train Station is just 6km from Chantemerle with regular services from Paris and Marseille, while Oulx Train Station in Italy, 35km away, offers connections from Paris and Milan with shuttle services available.
By car: From Grenoble, follow the A480 and N85 towards Gap, then the N94 to Briançon and Serre Chevalier. From Turin, take the A32 towards Bardonecchia, then the SS24 towards the Fréjus Tunnel, and follow the signs to Briançon. Please note: In mountain areas of France, it is mandatory to have snow tyres, chains, or socks between 1st November and 31st March. These are strongly recommended for crossing mountain passes during winter.
